Welcome Baby Daniel

I’ve wanted to update with the story of Daniel’s birth for the last four days, but unfortunately, there’s been a huge amount of stress in our little family this week. First was the unexpected induction, which was done on an emergency basis due to me being diagnosed with Obstetric Cholestasis.

The labor was very difficult and very painful, with a very spontaneous birth at the end of it. It’s quite the story, actually, and deserves better than what I have time to write.

The recovery has been hard, and I actually had to have a blood transfusion shortly after the birth, which wasn’t entirely successful. Luckily I was let go from the hospital by request after only two days, so  I can’t complain too much.

Baby is wonderful and doing beautifully, but unfortunately on our first night home, we were woken up in the early hours by Dexter, who had a high fever and full body rash. After a frenzied search for a doctor, we found out that the poor boy has the flu again. And this time, it’s a doozy. Influenza A and B at the same time! We’ve been battling his continued high fevers, vomiting, etc, while trying to keep him away from the new baby and integrate as a family of four. As you can imagine, it’s all a bit scary.

Anyway, at the moment, I am still suffering many after effects of the difficult birth, but I hope to be able to write the full story soon.

In the meantime, I thought I’d bombard you with photos of the most precious little guy ever.
