So last night, in an effort to perk up my look, I decided I needed to do one of two things – either cut or dye my hair. I think it’s something all new moms go through at some point, and this time it’s hit me rather early. After Dex was born, I waited about two months, but in the end I wound up dying my hair blonde AND cutting it all off!
I vowed that this time would be different, and I swore that I would not make the mistake of cutting it again. Especially as it’s FINALLY getting long again AND is in pretty good shape since I only dyed it twice in the last year!
So if I couldn’t cut it, and I don’t really WANT to dye it, what could I do?
The answer became apparent as I looked around t’internet.
I knew I needed a look that would go well with glasses. Since October, I have been sporting a pair of Cover Girl lenses, as after 20 years of wearing (and abusing) contacts, my eyes finally needed a real break. The unfortunate thing is that I can’t actually wear most of my favorite hair styles without looking stupid. Glasses can be very unforgiving.
So I went on the Googlebox and searched for glasses-friendly styles and got the idea to give myself a new fringe.
The result? Not as good as I’d hoped for, actually!
I think my current glasses don’t work well with the new style. Maybe they’re too wide for my face and too narrow in height? So I dug out my OLD glasses and tried them on. I think they MIGHT work slightly better… but I’m not sure!
So I decided to compare them side by side in a Style Battle and let the viewers (ie – anyone who reads this and wants to voice an opinion) decide.
Leave a comment and let me know which look you prefer. I’m not wearing ANY makeup here, so this will be based TOTALLY on the frames. Help!

I think the thin frames look better for a every day look, but personally I prefer the other frames, more retro and different! I prefer to stand out from a crowd! x
Lol. I bought them because I wanted to stand out from a crowd, too. But I quickly gave up on them, as they needed adjusting and I couldn’t be bothered. But now that I wear glasses full time, I definitely have a reason to give them another go. :)
Thanks for the input!
I love the look of the thin frames – very sophisticated! The chunky frames make you look younger though. I really like them both! It’s nearly time for me to get a new pair too, I’m so going chunky =) x

Lol. I know, right!? It’s so hard to choose! They both have their good points. I guess I could just switch them up as my mood dictates…
Chunky is the way forward!!
Totally agree with you on the whole ‘new hair, new you’ thing after pregnancy – I had it every time! (never went blonde though!). I think that the glasses on the left actually suit the shape of your face better, although the ones on the right are more understated (agree with Elaine Croft) – does that help…at all?!
Lol. All the comments are helpful. I guess I don’t really have to CHOOSE, as I can switch them up now and then. As long as neither of them look ridiculous, of course! ;)
I wonder if the new hair thing is a reaction to us women not being able to get our bodies back fast enough? Gotta have SOMETHING under our control, right!? ;)
I like thin frames! I can’t wear contacts (seriously!) so I wear glasses. It normally takes me a good 2 weeks to pick out new frames.

Thanks for stopping by, Mary! :) I totally miss my contacts, but glasses can be so much fun. The problem I have is that I’m SOOO blind without my lenses in, so trying on new glasses is hard since I can’t see out of them to tell if they look good! I always have to bring someone to give me feedback. ;)
I think I like the thin frames. Hopped over from Linking with my Ladies.

Chunky frames! Chunky Frames!!! Chuuunky Frames!!! Embrace the sexy geek inside of you (and out) !!!
Lol. I gotta bring the sexy geek back! :) Hehe. LOVE YOU!
Ah I remember going through the same thing! I had dyed my hair a sort of mousey brown prebaby so that I wouldn’t have to worry about having roots in the hospital pictures (yes, vanity followed me all the way to the delivery room), but the minute I could get a few hours away, back to blonde I went!! Felt like me again! I love you in the slim frames!

Lol. I know exactly what you mean! I let vanity play a big part in my first pregnancy. But this time I was a bit more lax. Still, I can’t wait until my body is as under my control as my hair! ;)
Thanks for the feedback!
DEFINITELY The thin frames. :)
Thanks for linking up with the ladies at our Thursday hop! Hope you are enjoying finding some new blogs!
