My teeth have been an important part of my beauty and health routines for years. Having grown up with really truly horribly crooked teeth, I was forced into wearing braces in my middle teen years, a situation that meant my confidence (so low as a 15 year old girl!) took an even bigger hit.

One of the great things that came out of it, though (besides a much nicer smile and neat, even teeth) was that I was forced to learn good dental hygiene. My orthodontist was great at teaching me how to brush my teeth to get the very best results, and I have never forgotten what he showed me.

For years, I was obsessive about tooth brushing. When I first met Mark, he would often make fun of me because I was forever running to the bathroom to brush my teeth and use a strong mouthwash so that he’d never be subjected to kissing me with foul breath.

But then….

One day…

It all changed.

With the onset of my first pregnancy, my dental care was pushed to the background, as I just couldn’t manage to put ANYTHING in my mouth without gagging. As such, for nearly nine months, I was only able to very hastily brush my teeth twice a day, and only for about 30 seconds at a time. The end result is that once my son was born and I went to the dentist, I found out that I had my very first cavity! And not only that – but I had FOUR cavities!

I was heartbroken. The dentist told me in no uncertain terms that my mouth was in a dire state and that I would do well to invest in a good quality electric toothbrush. She even suggested Oral B as the best brand for the job.

Of course, being a busy mom with other concerns, I put off the quest for a good toothbrush and contented myself with getting back to brushing my teeth regularly with a garden variety brush.

So how did it do?

Well, the first time I used it, I was dismayed to find that my gums were bleeding quite heavily. Far from worrying me, however, I was pleased because my dentist had already warned me that this would happen due to the state of my mouth. After several uses of the brush, I was very pleased to find that any and all bleeding had completely stopped. And what is more, my teeth felt amazing! I had that “just been to the dentist” feeling that I love, and after two weeks of use, I even noticed a slight change in the whiteness and brightness of my teeth!

I can’t recommend them enough, as this is the first toothbrush I’ve ever used that makes me feel like I’m taking the best care of my teeth that I can.
