It’s here! It’s here! I have seen it with my eyes! And I’ve smelt it with my nose! And I’ve touched it with the timid hands of one afraid that the slightest pressure may crumble it to dust…
It is my favorite time of year. And it is OFFICIAL!
Autumn has fallen all around me, and in celebration, we headed out with joy in our hearts to explore what a Floridian Fall entails.
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
- Albert Camus
A quick google search for surrounding areas led us to the very beautiful and secluded Lake Louisa State Park, where we feasted our eyes on natural wonders. Dexter was amazed by squirrels, lizards, fish, tadpoles, ants, mosquitos, turtles, frogs and even a couple of deer! We waded in the waters of the lake and walked through the woods and touched the trees and let sand fall through our fingers. We held pine cones and talked to hikers and admired the cacti and flowers and leaves.
It was beautiful. It was natural. It was everything I’ve ever wanted to show my son condensed into sixty beautiful minutes.
“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
- George Eliot

“No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
As i have seen in one autumnal face.”- John Donne
We have made plans to return again soon to explore the park and swim in the tea-colored water. To rejuvenate our hearts when the palm trees and scorching sun-dappled concrete gets too much for us and we need a reminder that mother nature is still out there – doing what she does best…
In the spirit of the season and with great love and affection, I wish you all a very happy and blessed autumn.

I love the colours of Autumn. Though I have to say I would enjoy the season more if it had the kind of weather I could wear short sleeves in. It’s raining as I type…
You are looking lovely btw :)
Actually Mummy… recently posted..Finicky Shirts: the one where we discover that Daddy is a really weird shape
Aw, thank you hon. :)
It was very nice to be able to go out in shorts and short sleeves, but a nice breeze would have made it even better. I must say it is a nice change, though, from the UK’s wet and rainy autumns. ;)
