Setting Up Your Wardrobe
Stylish, functional wardrobes are nothing but a dream, especially for moms, who hardly can afford enough time or the effort needed for setting up their wardrobe. Setting up a lean and simple wardrobe can be quite a challenging task; the process often being a battleground of temptations, practical usage and affordability. One may occasionally splurge on a tempting collection of outfits or accessories, only to realize later that probably the color or design did not really flatter the frame, or the utility was short-lived. Here are a few suggestions that can help decide the contents of a mom’s wardrobe.
Take Stock of Things
It is essential to take stock of the existing set of outfits and accessories, and clear all unwanted items to make space for the newer ones. Part with all items that no longer fit well, damaged or weather beaten, do not even spare costly dresses that have gathered dust; they only indicate that one is no longer comfortable with the piece.
Hold on to clothes that are comfortable, a few good dresses or formal clothes may help during temporary transition periods such as weight gain, pregnancy or switching jobs. They can be used whenever needed.
Replenish
Wardrobes should contain few essential pieces of clothing – an absolute must for simple yet elegant daily dressing.
- Straight fit jeans (suitable color), ideally dark shaded can be matched with shirts, tees or tanks for a casual look to suit most occasions. Different wash colours and fits add the necessary variation to an otherwise standard jean collection.
- If tailored pants or jeans do not suit one’s dressing habits, then a neat array of skirts could make a difference. Plain, printed, pleated – there are several designs to choose from. Skirts paired with appropriate leggings are a cool, comfortable addition to the wardrobe.
- Tees and tanks of different styles are particularly useful as they can be matched with cardigans, sweaters or hoodies for a casual and trendy effect. Variations in designs, pattern, necklines and sleeve patterns help experiment with the looks and blend form with function. Plus size shirts and ties are in vogue this summer.
- One or more classic dresses should be part of the collection for special events. Choice of outfit and accessories need some extra attention when on Church visits and evening outings, for being dressed appropriately at these events or occasions really do matter, not just because of the sanctity of the place but also because of the atmosphere calls for good and sensible dressing.
Accessories complete the wardrobe and nothing better than comfortable footwear and handbags(s) for achieving that final touch. Scarves, bracelets and watches all serve to bring in some interesting variations to the look.
