Looking Forward to End of Summer Fun

So August has arrived, the eighth month on the calendar. But did you know August also has a dictionary meaning of “inspiring awe or admiration?”

And this is definitely true for me. Because August is shaping up to be a REALLY awesome month.

A couple of days ago, we traded in our old Buick for a nearly brand new Kia Sedona! I got my MINIVAN! When Mark and I first got pregnant with Dexter, I told him that eventually we’d have to get either a minivan or a station wagon, as it was important we have a family car big enough to hold us, kids and all that goes with it. But he was terrified of the concept. He told me I wasn’t allowed to mention “the M word.”

Fast forward two years or so, and now we have an awesome 7-seater minivan that makes me a VERY happy mama!

Next week, we are headed to our new OB/GYN, Dr. Kjerulff, for our first proper doctors appointment. I’m hoping the receptionist was right when she said we’ll finally get to have a scan to make sure all is well with this little bean. Apparently, at their office, they usually do the first scan at eight weeks, but by the time my appointment rolls around, I’ll be one day shy of TWELVE weeks. I am gutted it has taken this long to get things sorted, but I am grateful that we now have proper health insurance, and I can get seen to.

It will also be a good time to see our baby for the first time, as it is only a few days later that it is Mark’s birthday. My man is turning the big 3-3, and I know he’d be stoked to have a healthy baby for a birthday gift.

On the 26th, Mark’s mom is flying out to see us for a week, closely followed by his sister and her boyfriend. So we will have family around to share our lovely Florida life with. I forsee trips to Disney, Epcot, Sea World and the Beach! It is extra special, as well, as unfortunately, despite Dexter being nearly eighteen months old, Mark’s family has never met him yet. So I am very happy that they are coming and will get to see our amazing little man.

On the 31st, Mark’s family will be dropped off at the airport, and we will be picking up ANOTHER set of visitors in the form of my baby brother and his girlfriend. They’re popping down for a long weekend, and we’ll be taking him to swim in the ocean for the very first time.

I only hope the weather cooperates for all these visitors, as we are so excited to have them and show them around.

In the meantime, we are simply loving life at the moment, making the most of the Floridian lifestyle. Granted, we’ve all been a bit ill for the last few days (mama has been hit the worst!), but I’m hoping we’re on an upswing and will be back in the saddle sooner rather than later.  Here are some photos of what we’ve been up to lately.
